Sam Holderness

Director, Summer Boarding Courses

Sam looks after the day-to-day running of Summer Boarding Courses, including overseeing support for all schools during the spring and summer months. His wide experience in education and childcare ensures that children have an enriching time learning and making friends at our schools. He has also personally run SBC Bournemouth, SBC Oxford, and Norman Court schools in past summers.

Sam has always had an interest in working with children and young people. Born and raised in Singapore, he initially attended an international school and subsequently finished his education in the UK – so he is well versed in the benefits and challenges of international education. After university, Sam became a residential social worker for a private organisation running homes for children in care with challenging behaviour and complex emotional difficulties. This led him to return to university to read Psychology at postgraduate level, with a view to working in child therapy.

During a free summer, Sam first worked at one of our schools, and found the experience inspiring. Our summer schools are all about having young people from different cultures and nationalities working together, making lasting friendships with others who are otherwise spread around the world. This is what continues to motivate Sam today.

In his spare time Sam enjoys surfing, rugby, and spending time with his wife Stephanie.
