Earlscliffe

A modern independent school, in a traditional environment, here at Earlscliffe we offer our students, who come from a wide range of international backgrounds, a rigorous academic platform and an environment that encourages the development of a creative imagination both within and outside of the classroom.

To enable academic and creative imagination together with well-being, we build a team around each student. It comprises excellent teachers, boarding staff, pastoral staff, a Nurse and the senior leadership team who can call upon specialists if required. The aim is to care for each child as though they were our own and enable them to realise their full potential and beyond.

This family environment provides guidance and support but encourages personal development and growing independence as our older teenagers learn to accept increasing responsibility for their own work, future plans and interpersonal relationships, whilst still abiding by the rules.

Our ethos is that a truly successful education includes so much that goes beyond the curriculum. Sports, activities and community opportunities are also important and enrich the academic experience. Character qualities such as initiative, persistence, curiosity and leadership are as important as academic literacies in developing the whole person.

As a parent and teacher, I passionately believe that it is our young people who can give us all optimism for a brighter future for the world; our role as educators is to support and develop them as they begin the path to doing so.

Earlscliffe also runs Summer and Easter programmes in term-time holidays. These holiday programmes offer both serious study and fun activities. Students enjoy engaging academic study combined with exciting social activities and excursions that make for an unforgettable experience.

During their stay, students live on the Earlscliffe campus, a collection of recently renovated Victorian and Edwardian buildings.

“Rochester Independent College was founded in 1984 as a specialist Maths and Sciences focused sixth form. The development I’ve seen since joining the team in 1997 has been, like the education so many of our former students remember, colourful and vibrant. There’s now an equal emphasis in the curriculum on the Arts. Our first Year 7 students joined in 2007.

Rochester is a place for individuals, a real alternative to traditional schools…”

There’s no uniform and everybody is on first name terms. Although atmospherically relaxed, there’s an emphasis on rigorous study and academic achievement without unnecessary pressure. This successfully distinctive environment is a natural stepping-stone between school and university.

The college occupies a one-of-a-kind urban campus. Listed buildings are linked by award-winning wildlife gardens, creating a special sense of place in which to live, study and work.

Rochester Independent College

Rochester Independent College focuses on the highest levels of academic achievement while retaining a creative buzz.

 

Rochester’s Mathematics, Science, English Literature, and Film Studies teaching have all won awards from The Good Schools Guide in recent years who also say: “It would be hard to find better provision for an artist.”

 

Located in Kent, the school occupies a historically distinctive site. Listed Georgian buildings are linked by award-winning wildlife gardens, creating a unique sense of place in which to live, work, and study. The campus is as unique as the school itself, with an underground theatre space, an outdoor classroom shaped like an igloo, and steel sculptural musical gates that form a landmark piece of public art. All boarding is on-site, in single rooms, some with ensuite facilities.
