About
CLIP – Oporto International School
CLIP – Oporto International School was established to meet the growing demand for high-quality international education in Porto. Founded by forward-thinking entrepreneurs, the school opened in September 1993 with a small cohort of 30–40 students and a clear vision to provide an innovative, globally oriented education. Despite early challenges, CLIP grew rapidly, becoming a registered Cambridge International (CIE) examination centre and celebrating its first graduating class in 1996.
As the school expanded, it relocated several times before settling in its current campus in 2002, in one of Porto’s most desirable areas, close to the city’s largest park. This location offers a peaceful and inspiring learning environment while remaining well-connected to the city centre.
Today, CLIP is a leading international school in Portugal, serving over 1,200 students aged 3 to 18. Its diverse community represents more than 50 nationalities, with a strong Portuguese presence, creating a rich and inclusive international environment built on respect, kindness, and a sense of belonging.
Students at CLIP, known as “CLIPPERS”, are encouraged to become confident, creative, and resilient individuals. The school places a strong emphasis on academic excellence, critical thinking, and the development of internationally minded learners who are prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
CLIP also actively promotes student leadership, providing meaningful opportunities for students to share their ideas and contribute to school life. This culture of voice, agency, and collaboration helps foster a dynamic, supportive community in which students grow as principled citizens and lifelong learners.
