Many congratulations to extraordinary students at Cardiff Sixth Form College, Wales, and Mandoulides Schools, Greece for their extraordinary achievements. Hiya, a Year 13 student at Cardiff Sixth Form College is the 2025 recipient of the Independent Schools Association’s (ISA) prestigious Lexden Prize which celebrates the most remarkable sixth form students at all ISA schools. A truly outstanding student, Hiya won a scholarship to Cardiff Sixth Form College and will soon join world-class Yale University. Hiya’s academic achievements include winning the global Professor Layard Prize in the LSE Economics Essay Competition, as well as first place in the University of Cambridge economics essay competition. Among her many other skills and achievements, Hiya is an exceptionally talented musician and member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and will be performing at this year’s Proms.
Lazaros, an 11th Grade student at Mandoulides Schools, Thessaloniki, won a bronze medal at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025 held on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. In total, 630 students from 110 countries took part with Greece achieving 34th place overall.
Maria-Eleni, a 10th Grade student also at Mandoulides Schools, won a bronze medal at the 5th European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), which took place in Bonn, Germany. Over 225 girls from 60 countries participated in the Olympiad with Maria-Eleni representing Greece after achieving a high score in the selection tests at the Informatics Camp in May.
