Helena Pina Vaz is the founding principal of Colégio Luso Internacional de Braga, a school she established 25 years ago with a deep passion for education and a commitment to community care. Previously, she spent five years as a public-school director. What inspires Helena most in her role is the opportunity to engage with students from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating how education can bridge cultures and social divides.
Throughout her career, Helena has been dedicated to creating a supportive, inclusive environment where students are empowered to excel academically, realise their potential, and grow into compassionate, proactive problem-solvers. A passionate advocate for volunteering, she encourages her students to participate in service projects addressing real-world challenges, teaching them the value of empathy and the power of collective action. Her leadership is founded on the belief that education is a transformative tool for solving societal issues and strengthening communities.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Helena finds joy and inspiration in her family, being married and a mother of two and grandmother of two. Her spiritual life is a cornerstone of her leadership, providing her with strength, guidance, and a profound sense of purpose.
