Our independent, happy, friendly, and academic school is known among the local community for putting children at the heart of everything we do. The school is set in historic buildings in the heart of Hampstead, a few minutes’ walk from Hampstead Heath, where the children play at lunchtimes….”

Heathside maintains an informal atmosphere while fostering a high level of individual responsibility and self-motivation. We encourage the development of the whole person and, as a result, Heathside is a relaxed and happy place and academic standards are high.

Heathside has been providing child-centred education for more than 25 years. We joined the Dukes family in 2019, and are delighted to gain from the added support and to find ourselves amongst a wider team of fellow schools. Heathside School Hampstead

Founded more than 25 years ago, Heathside School has built a reputation as an environment where children spend their time happy and fulfilled.

 

Full advantage has always been taken of the local surroundings, with ‘Heath’ being a timetabled part of the curriculum.

 

The school is home to dedicated teachers who focus on keeping childhood special, while delivering a rich academic curriculum and preparing children to go on to leading London senior schools.

Our Ethos

The vision at Heathside is to empower students to acquire, demonstrate, articulate and value knowledge and skills that will support them, as independent lifelong learners, to make a positive difference to the world they will inherit. Our three core values are:

 

Knowledge

Confidently rowing away from the tide, this is knowledge the Heathside way. We offer children a genuinely unique learning experience, from being on first-name terms with one another to ditching restrictive uniform, from welcoming dogs to never putting an age limit on play – we are proud to teach children differently.

 

Nature

The Heath is an extension of our school and one of our most cherished teachers. Whether it’s welly boot shelves in the halls, ducklings in the classroom, Forest School on the Heath or our bid to ban single-use plastic, our children learn to respect and thrive within the natural world.

 

Nurture

We believe in raising children who value empathy and compassion, who treat one another with generosity and respect. Our teaching is firm but kind, patient but with clear boundaries.
