Project-based learning as a key element for success in life is gaining more and more popularity and attention in society. According to expert research, we tend to remember best the experiences we have learned through our own active participation. In this context, the PHG welcomes project-based learning as an essential part of the educational process and is actively developing it. By integrating humanities and science subjects into thematic blocks, it aims to equip its students with the skills and knowledge they will need in their everyday lives. Each of us is involved in a wide range of projects in our lives, large and small. We believe that a student will achieve their goals if they put their energy and effort into achieving them, and our school actively supports this effort with pedagogical support and motivation. Our desire is for students to have the courage to try new things and projects without fear of failure.

Project-based learning promotes active and in-depth learning that allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world situations and problems. This promotes their critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills. It also provides a space for collaboration and communication between students, which develops social skills and teamwork. Project-based learning also motivates students as they have the opportunity to actively engage in their own learning and see the meaning and applicability of their knowledge in the real world. Other supportive factors are flexibility in the learning process, a personalised approach to students and the ability to tailor projects to their interests and needs.

About
Pražské humanitní gymnázium

Pražské humanitní gymnázium, one of the largest private grammar schools in Prague, offers both four-year and eight-year programs. It serves students from 10 to 19 years old and provides instruction in the Czech language.

The school has been operated by the Consilium group since 2016, when they started running their first school.

Pražské humanitní gymnázium is a leader in progressive education, featuringa comprehensive curriculum that prepares students to navigate the ever-changing landscape
of the future. At its core, the school fosters the cultivation of critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, self-reliance, and civic responsibility. We employ project-based learning as a conduit, merging theoretical foundations with tangible real-world applications. For our junior high school students, the block teaching method allows a deep dive into project-based
learning.

Within this structure, students immerse themselves in context-rich activities—stimulating games, thought-provoking discussions, and engaging simulations—fostering an atmosphere of creativity, mutual respect, and teamwork. As they transition to high school, students are given the freedom to follow their own academic journeys. Through elective seminars, insightful lectures, interactive discussions, and dedicated project days, students experience an education tailored to their unique interests and aspirations. All of these endeavors, aimed at student personal growth and autonomy, take place in a nurturing, familial environment that fosters each individual‘s potential.
