“The Lyceum School was first opened in Paul Street in the City over 22 years ago. The ethos focused on teaching an innovative and creative topic-based curriculum. Since it opened, the school has continued to be renowned for offering an exceptional education. It is blessed with an outstanding team of teachers, kind and happy children, and extremely supportive parents; all it needed was a new building with space to grow into.
I was asked by the Chairman of Dukes Education, Mr Aatif Hassan, to have a look at a potential new property around the corner from the Paul Street site. When I first walked into the building on Worship Street it was silent and dusty…”
I walked up into what is now the hall. The sunlight was streaming in through the large windows and I could envisage what the room would look like if it was full of children and could see that the whole building had the potential to become an extraordinary setting for a school. Having seen it, I was keen to be part of the development project and to take on the job as Head of the School.
With the help of some imaginative architects, skilful designers and a large financial investment by Dukes, the place has been transformed into a fabulous learning environment, complete with beautiful wall art, its own yoga studio, outdoor playground and space for our rabbits to move into next term!
Since November when I took up the post, I have been working with the staff, pupils, and parents to put into words exactly what makes the Lyceum School so special. Together, we have identified four ‘pillars’ that underpin the school and they are: Kindness, Creativity, Confidence, and Community. This has helped us distil down what’s important to us, so it is clear to everyone what we stand for.
News of the expansion is spreading fast and we are now inundated with enquires from families hoping to join us.
This is a very exciting time to be at the school and I am delighted to be part of the Lyceum family. Do come and visit us if you are in the area.”
