Julian joined Cardiff Sixth Form College Cambridge in 2022 as its founding Head. He previously gained considerable experience in an international sixth form college in Cambridge, firstly as a teacher of Biology before moving into leadership and spending 20 years as principal. During this time Julian developed his expertise in how to lead and grow a successful college while ensuring international students are provided with inspiration and guidance to enable them to thrive in the UK.
Julian received his high school education in Wales, from Queen Elizabeth Cambria School, Carmarthen. He then read Applied Biology at the University of Bath and was awarded a doctorate by the University of Kent at Canterbury for his thesis on the biological response to climate change in Antarctica. He has worked as a research scientist both in academia and in industry before beginning his teaching career.
He retains a passion about providing the very best education for students from all over the world and has recently co-authored the book, ‘An Overseas Parent’s Guide to UK Education’ as he felt there was a need to provide detailed advice about the best of the UK education system. He is looking forward to leading the students of Cardiff Sixth Form College Cambridge to incredible academic achievement and then to entry into the very best universities.
