Annette Poulain joined St Andrew’s College, Cambridge, as Head at the start of the summer term 2025.
Annette studied Sport Science and Geography (BSc QTS) at Brunel University and then launched into a teaching career that has taken her to a range of schools, including The Leys in Cambridge, The Peterborough School, Cheltenham College, and Our Lady’s Abingdon.
Over her 25 years in education, Annette has held a wide variety of roles including Deputy Head Pastoral at Our Lady’s Abingdon and Housemistress at Cheltenham College. These experiences have helped shape her approach to leadership so she is focused, adaptable, and always keeping the needs of a diverse community at the heart of everything.
Annett has taught IGCSE and A-Level courses and has worked as an exam moderator for AQA. Beyond the classroom, Annette has been deeply involved in organising sports tours, leading residential trips, mentoring EPQ projects, managing the County Athletics team, and being a safeguarding lead.
As a native of Cambridge, Annette is excited to return to the city with her family. Outside work, Annette loves to run and raise money for charity, combining fitness and community, two things she is passionate about.
