Berrin Schofield joined Thames British School in 2023, bringing over 22 years of experience working in international schools in Laos, Thailand, Jordan, and Cuba to the community.
Originally from Australia, he has spent most of his career as an expatriate, with well over half of his experience gained in Senior Leadership and consultative positions. Berrin has led school development in curriculum, building and embedding standards and competency-based assessment and reporting systems, school campus redevelopment, master planning, marketing, revitalising mission and vision, the development of Learning Definitions and Principles, as well as budgeting and financial reform. He has worked closely with Governing bodies and other school leaders as both an invitee and in ex officio on role on campus and learning systems development projects, Finance Fiduciary, Mission, Vision and Operations.
A core principle for Berrin is that no school is perfect and no school is finished. There is always work to be done that can help a school be better and its community stronger. Accreditation can be a powerful driver for school development. Berrin has been volunteering for international accreditation agencies since 2012 and is now an experienced accreditation leader, working with 16 schools in various roles, supporting school development throughout accreditation cycles, including as a Visiting Team Leader and Chair for NEASC and CIS.
Berrin remains passionate about utilising a philosophy of systems thinking for school development and continuous improvement through ethical and authentic leadership, fostering strong partnerships focused on learning. Above all else, he strives to ensure that when the young people entrusted to us move on, they are ready for whatever comes next.
