Glen Fendley - Advisory Board for Dukes Foundation

Glen Fendley, Director, The Dukes Foundation

Glen Fendley is a trustee of the Dukes Foundation and represents the Dukes Foundation on our Advisory Board.

Glen is considered one of the UK’s most prominent school development leaders. His previous roles include Chair of the Institute of Development Professionals in Education (IDPE), where he worked closely with its Executive and board of development professionals and governance specialists to manage an unprecedented growth in its membership and programme provision. During his time as Chair, he was a regular conference speaker, mentor and contributor to articles and publications for members on fundraising excellence and embedding the culture of giving within non-profit organisations.

Over the last 20 years, Glen has enjoyed a long and successful track record of establishing complex fundraising start-up programmes, delivering income generation activities to meet significant capital campaign targets, and building sustainable development programmes. He has worked with over fifty non-profit leaders providing expertise on philanthropic initiatives across four continents and spanning the non-profit sector.

Recently, Glen led development at a UK schools trust, where he planned, coordinated and directed six successful multi-million capital campaigns. Working with the schools’ leadership, governing bodies and other key groups within these school communities, he helped to create unprecedented levels of capital income for the group to realise major projects as diverse as performing arts centres, interactive explore floors, sports pavilions, music studios and sixth form centres. He also led a central team to raise over £3m in bursary income towards changing children’s lives from disadvantaged backgrounds and increased the trust’s annual fundraising income by over 20%, through an innovative regular and planned giving programme.

Glen is passionate about developing fundraising within state schools and has worked with several Head Teachers to help them introduce successful start-up fundraising initiatives with limited resources. He is a Trustee of one of the UK’s most successful multi-academy trusts (MATS), the Astrea Academy Trust, and is instrumental in helping the Trust to establish a groundbreaking fundraising programme.
