Richard joined Dukes Education in 2018 as Director of Performance, where he leads learning and development across the organisation. His role involves designing and delivering training, championing group-wide initiatives, and ensuring that colleagues at every level have the support and resources they need to provide the very best education. Richard is also a member of the Group Education team, with a particular focus on leadership development and the quality of teaching and learning.
With more than 22 years’ experience in education, Richard began his career teaching at a prep school in Sydney, Australia, before qualifying as a teacher in the UK and working across both the state and independent sectors. He has taught Mathematics, Philosophy, and Sport, and his deep interest in pedagogy soon led him into mentoring, staff wellbeing, and student pastoral care.
Richard has held a wide range of senior leadership and management roles, including Head of House, Head of Department, Head of Year, and Head of Lower School. Throughout his career, he has combined a sharp focus on academic progress, assessment, and student performance with a strong commitment to wellbeing, self-awareness, and mental health.
