Pippa Pop-ins Nursery Schools

A Pippa Pop-ins House is a magical environment where children learn to be kind, independent and develop friendships. We aim for the children to understand feelings, respect for one another and have the opportunity to develop both holistically and academically. We place a great emphasis on individuality, creativity and self-expression.

We follow traditional standards with contemporary concepts and have created a curriculum which includes both the Early Years Foundation Stage and Montessori elements.  We believe in the importance of laying the foundations for good manners, cultural diversity, knowledge and sociability.

London Park Schools

I am delighted to be the Principal of this exciting new group of schools which offer a new approach to secondary education in London; one that celebrates the process of learning, that focuses on the individual within a smaller, collaborative community and which looks ahead to the future whilst recognising and celebrating the importance of an ethical, sustainable, and forward-facing approach.

The need for a new model of secondary education has never been more apparent and it is time for schools to embrace more of the skill-sets that will be so critical for the work places of the future.  London Park Schools look forward and thanks to their agile approach, can design and deliver education that’s relevant for the workplaces of the future.  What’s more, we recognise the need for an approach that’s simpler, more straightforward and kinder to children when it comes to Admissions.  As smaller schools, our focus is on tailoring experiences to deliver more individual experiences within warm and supportive communities – all whilst embracing the benefits of being part of a larger group.

Together, each of the three London Park Schools will offer a model of secondary education that’s as dynamic, diverse, innovative, creative, and energising as London itself.

I look forward to telling you more.

A Fresh Approach to Education

Welcome to London Park Schools; London’s exciting new group of secondary schools that offer a dynamic and more personal approach to secondary education, within a warm, supportive, ethical, and forward-thinking community.

Our two 11-16 co-ed senior schools feed into one sixth form, thereby offering intimacy of experience, breadth of opportunity and the certainty of an excellent, fresh-thinking and modern all-through education from 11-18.

Our experiential approach ensures that learning is more relevant and exciting; our focus on problem solving and integrated learning makes it tangible and helps the development of critical thinking skills.

Our size provides the reassurance that each student is well known by every member of staff whilst also enabling a more agile approach to the innovations needed for the workplaces of the future.

Choosing a senior school is one of the most important decisions you will ever make for your child.  We want to make it as simple, straightforward, personal and enjoyable as possible.  We look forward to telling you more.

The Acorn Nursery School

Message from Carla Rodrigues, the Head of the Acorn:

“We like to think of the Acorn as a home from home. A safe place where your children can take their first steps into independence; and where you, their parents, can be supremely confident that they are cherished, secure, stimulated and, above all, happy along the way.

Our warm, caring and highly experienced staff understand the importance of nurturing strong roots in the young saplings in their care. Above all else, we encourage self-confidence, problem-solving and a love of learning, as core skills in our pupils. We want our Acorn children to embrace the joy of childhood and we believe these are the foundations of a successful journey through school and beyond. Put simply, we are here to encourage each and every child to be the best they can be in every aspect of their lives, to help them develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime.”

About
The Acorn Nursery School

The Acorn Nursery was founded in 1977 and is housed in a large Victorian property overlooking the church and grounds of St John’s.

We have been located in the Notting Hill area for many years and moved to our current premises in 1992. The nursery occupies the former parish rooms on the ground and basement floors. We have two large classrooms, two smaller teaching rooms and a private outside space bordering the beautiful Lansdowne Crescent communal gardens, which gives us the opportunity to venture outside to play and spend time in the fresh air.

“The Acorn brings the most loving, caring, stimulating and social learning environment for the little ones. The teachers are great and always look for opportunities to boost children’s self-confidence. My son runs to his class with excitement in the mornings and always leaves the Acorn with a huge smile on his face.”

Notting Hill Prep School

I feel very privileged to be the Head of this wonderful school. NHP has quickly built a reputation as one of the leading prep schools in central London thanks to a combination of dynamic teaching, excellent academic results and a firm commitment to protect the joy of childhood.

I strongly believe that children thrive when they feel safe and happy. At NHP (affectionately re-named by the children as No Happier Place) we work hard to create a nurturing environment where our pupils’ views are respected and encouraged. Kindness and courtesy are key themes and we focus on the children’s ability to co-operate, to think collaboratively and to show consideration for the needs of others.

We are proud of our reputation as an advanced accredited Thinking School and through our Learning Habits and school values, we ensure that NHP pupils develop key life skills alongside academic ones. The children leave us with a problem-solving attitude and a toolkit on which to draw. They are confident, articulate, resourceful, resilient, independent and more than ready to face the next stage of their education.

It is a given that our pupils will move on to some of the leading schools in the country, but what is important for us is that they move on to the right school for them. That is the one which will allow them to flourish and build on the strong foundations that they have established here at NHP.

I hope that you have time to browse our website and see more of what makes our school so special and what makes an NHP pupil stand out from the crowd. Of course, the best way to get a feel for us is to come and visit and I look forward to welcoming you to our ‘hidden gem’ in the heart of Notting Hill.

About
Notting Hill Prep School

As you enter the doors of NHP, there is something uniquely special about the place. The school’s ethos of ‘academic rigour + the joy of childhood’ is embedded within everything it does – a balancing act that is fiercely protected by the staff and celebrated by the parents.

Whilst there is a real sense of academic focus as the children are challenged by specialist subject teaching, there is also joy to be had in learning and their experiences of school life.

The only advanced accredited prep Thinking School currently in England, the NHP approach to learning enables teachers, pupils and parents to have a deep understanding of how to learn and think effectively to prepare them for future life. Pupils are nurtured and encouraged to have a go, to celebrate marvellous mistakes and to think creatively and outside the box.A hub of creativity, music and the performing arts are the cornerstones of NHP life.  With music, drama and P4C being taught from Reception to Year 8, the children develop their self-confidence, collaborate creatively and reflect on work that they and their peers have produced.

Pastoral Care is intertwined across every aspect of school life. We have a comprehensive well-being programme which timetables pastoral activities into the school day to safeguard the children’s mental health and preserve the joy of childhood. The school has built strong links with some of the UK’s top senior schools both in London and further afield and places great emphasis on finding the right next school where each child will thrive and flourish.

Community Links

A core founding pillar of NHP is that we will continually strive to strengthen the close relationship between the school and the diverse local community in which we are situated.

Radnor House Prep School

– A letter from the Head

Hello, I am delighted to introduce myself as Head of the new Radnor House Prep School, opening in September 2023. Having lived and worked in Richmond and Twickenham for over 20 years, I am very aware of the excellent reputation of Radnor House senior school. I am so excited to be given this opportunity and I look forward to working closely with parents, children, and the wider Dukes community to build upon Radnor’s established success…

I am very proud to be taking the school forward into its next chapter as a prep school for girls and boys aged 2-11. Education should provide the best preparation for next steps into senior school and life beyond, and in my view children should receive an education based on encouragement rather than pressure. The very best results come from a broad base, an interesting and challenging curriculum, and a strong and supportive network of parents, pupils and school.

We have the chance to create something new and exciting at Radnor House Prep School. But please be assured, the new prep school will be founded on the same core principles as the current senior school: courage, excellence, perseverance and respect, and those values will underpin everything we do. As a prep school, we will benefit from the wonderful riverside site, and the refit planned for summer 2023 will provide us with more outstanding resources for an exceptional educational experience. Our children will also have the chance to progress directly into Kneller Hall School, the new Dukes senior school opening in Twickenham in September 2023.

I look forward to welcoming parents to Radnor in the autumn term. Meanwhile, please register your interest so that we can keep in touch and update you on our progress as we move towards an exciting new future.

Best wishes,

Stephanie Piper

About
Radnor House Prep School

Radnor House Prep School is a new independent co-educational day school, opening in September 2023.  The school will educate and inspire girls and boys from ages 2-11, with four main entry points in Nursery, Reception, Year 3 and Year 5. The school will enjoy a stunning location on the banks of the River Thames in Twickenham, which is currently home to Radnor House Twickenham senior school.

Life at Radnor House will be shaped by the school’s commitment to providing an active learning environment for limitless minds. Everyone firmly believes that all pupils are capable of great things if effectively taught, motivated and inspired by their school environment. Pupils will thrive in small classes with a strong focus on individual attention. This vision is underpinned by four key values which are central to school life:

Resilience – encouraging a sense of balance and humour in dealing with mishap and failure, and encouraging pupils to use difficulties as learning opportunities.

Respect – teaching children to listen to others, to value and understand difference, and to show a respect of themselves and others.

Reflection – showing pupils how to make good judgements, to review what they know and learn, to evaluate and analyse success and failure with a view to growing potential.

Resolve – enabling pupils to have the courage to take a chance, to face a challenge with confidence.

Radnor House Prep School will welcome girls and boys aged 2-11 from September 2023.

The Pointer School

It is my pleasure to welcome you to The Pointer School, an independent co-educational school for boys and girls from 3-11 years of age. Being in the heart of London gives the school a breadth of character and personality that has been at the core of our educational philosophy for over 70 years.

We are very much a Christian school at our foundation. This is the compass we use to guide our pupils through the school, from being kind and compassionate individuals, to fully appreciating the wider world that we live in.

We proudly describe The Pointer School pupils as “self-confident and generous in spirit” and believe they will transition to senior school as young citizens ready to take on the world. We do this by giving the pupils opportunities to grow their self confidence and explore their interests. This starts in the school community, which is proudly international and diverse in makeup. It is evident in the curriculum, where lessons challenge our pupils and provide them with opportunities to take ownership of their learning. Outside of the classroom our extensive programme of extra-curricular clubs allows pupils to find and develop unique talents, from chess to robotics, dance to debating.

Our school is proof that it is possible to be highly academically ambitious without being selective. Children join us and are immediately immersed into a bespoke education with small class sizes (never over 20) and a focus on every child fulfilling their potential. We talk about finding the best senior school for each individual child, rather than simply funnelling them towards the "best" school based purely on league table results. Our pupils move on to a range of excellent independent and Grammar schools across the capital. As many as a quarter of our pupils gain prestigious scholarships for 11 plus entry.

At The Pointer School, we like to describe ourselves as a family. You will find us on the corner of the Heath, housed in Georgian and Victorian buildings with as much character as our school. You are warmly invited to visit, meet the family, and see our wonderful school for yourselves.

About
The Pointer School

Founded in 1950 by Muriel and Dela Pointer, The Pointer School has been educating children in Blackheath for over 70 years. The Pointer sisters ran “ThePointer Dance School” from the 1920s until the founding of the prep school on its current site.

Over the following years, The Pointer School has flourished and grown into a large successful Prep and Pre-Prep school, while still retaining its quirky character and Christian family ethos. The Pointer School pupils are instantly recognisable in their unique purple and green uniforms, and are well-known throughout Blackheath and Greenwich for their cheerful nature and kind hearts. We believe this is attributed to our outstanding of pastoral care.

All adults in our school, from teachers to playground assistants, work to create a loving and fun environment where children are taught to value mistakes and take pride in the accomplishments of themselves and others. Our pupils grow up with a sense of belonging and respect for the diverse world that we live in.

We place a strong emphasis on holistic education, with an extensive wraparound care programme, Holiday Clubs and camps, and over 50 extracurricular clubs, from gardening to coding.

At Pointers, school is so much more than just a classroom.
