Devonshire House Preparatory School

Devonshire House offers an intellectual, creative learning environment in which girls and boys of all character and learning profiles can thrive and maximise their potential.

We believe that parents shouldn’t have to choose between academically rigorous and pastorally nurturing schools: their children can have both at Devonshire House.

Strong core subject teaching is combined with a great breadth of study in specialist rooms and taught by expert teachers in their respective fields. A wide range of sports is on offer at our state-of-the-art facility and there is a keen focus on S.T.E.M, the creative arts, languages and the Humanities.

We encourage children to think critically by assimilating different perspectives with an open mindset, able to find nuanced positions as they wrestle with problems. We believe that learning and play represent a symbiotic relationship, one feeding the other.

Children learn as much from studying bugs in our wild area as they do in the classroom. The great outdoors are critical to a child’s development and at Devonshire House, we ensure that the children spend as much time outdoors as possible.

Devonshire House Preparatory School

Devonshire House is a co-educational prep school, for girls and boys aged 2-13, offering unparalleled preparation for senior school and life thereafter. Our unwavering focus on individual growth, within an inclusive community, blends traditional values and modern practice to inspire fearless life-long learning.

 

Children can join the School’s Nursery, (ages 2 – 4), or Reception, and at later stages, where vacancies arise.

 

Devonshire House School occupy a rare midground: academic rigour and a happy, balanced, nurturing childhood. Children fly academically precisely because they are known and loved as an individual through bespoke relationships.

Devonshire House is co-educational from 2-11 years at which time the girls take the 11+, while boys can continue the journey in preparation for the 13+.

“A solid, stretching, well-connected prep school of the highest standard, offering something for everybody aged 2 to 13.

Located in four large Hampstead villas, each with its own large garden, the school has a uniform feel with fresh paint and bright carpets throughout […] Each building has a generous supply of outdoor space, constantly in use.

Senior school advice comes in for praise: ‘Nothing comes as a shock, we’ve been involved all the way along,’ said one mother, while a girl told us that she ‘had not felt too nervous about the exams’. Maintains that London edge, however, and although not heavily called upon, the school benefits from the priority entry scheme to Dukes senior schools.”
