“Our passion for education and the happiness of the children in our care are at the heart of The Kindergartens. We are very proud of all our schools and hope that you will have a wonderful time with us.”
The Kindergartens is a group of nursery schools in central London which have been educating children aged 2 to 5 years for over 28 years. The Kindergartens are managed by Joanne Allen, the Principal of the group who has been working with the nurseries for over 20 years.
A passion for education and the happiness of the children in our care are at the heart of The Kindergartens. The curriculum is broadly based and encourages a wide range of interests and subjects which are integrated and child-centred.
Each session is planned to allow a child to explore all areas of the pre-school curriculum and prepare them for their future schooling.
Children are allocated to a group teacher. They follow a programme which leads them to work and explore individually and within a group.

Broomwood Pre-Prep and Little Broomwood
Broomwood Pre-Prep has that incredible mix you find in all great schools: dedicated staff, an inspiring curriculum; beautiful buildings with excellent facilities. Children in our pre-school Little Broomwood benefit from our indoor and outdoor classrooms, before moving seamlessly into the pre-prep. Our curriculum ensures a proper foundation, inspiring a love of learning and above all, producing happy resilient children equipped to #BeYourBEST.
Added to this we have innovative and specialist teachers, a myriad of opportunities for children to try new things, a real sense of community and outstanding pastoral care. The Pre-Prep is filled with the constant buzz of laughter and enthusiasm that comes from children who truly enjoy coming to school. In all this, our goal is to equip children with skills for life, not just the next school. We prepare children for the next stage of their education – whether that’s at 7+ to other schools or within Broomwood – either to Broomwood Prep – Girls or Broomwood Prep – Boys.
Broomwood Pre-Prep is a school for girls and boys aged 3-7 and the first stage of a wonderful prep education with Broomwood through to 13. Times change, but our school’s philosophy has never wavered: if a child is happy, they will learn and thrive.
We offer a stimulating, happy and well-rounded education with small class sizes, high teacher/pupil ratios and specialist subject teaching in music and sport. Our pupils love coming to school.
Thematic learning hooks them in to exciting topics; Maths Mastery ensures that every child has a fundamental grasp of number to give them the problem solving skills that are so critical in life. Our focus on a ‘growth mindset’, ensures that every child knows that learning is a process and it’s OK not to get everything right first time.
In the increasingly automated world that our children will face in the years to come, the human skills and values they learn at Broomwood will matter more than ever. Things like critical thinking, confidence, self-discipline, resilience, organisation, teamwork, creativity, a sense of duty and responsibility; good manners, courtesy and tolerance of others.
Our School Motto exemplifies all that we believe about education:
BeYourBEST
We are academically ambitious and believe in hard work too, and the satisfaction and sense of achievement that it brings; but never to the exclusion of happiness and of fun, or of a child’s right to be a child.

An independent pre-school and pre-preparatory school for girls and boys aged 3-7 in SW London.
We provide a forward-thinking holistic education in beautiful grounds between Clapham and Wandsworth Common. Our programmes are tailored to the needs of the modern world. We are big enough to stretch and stimulate, yet small enough to know each girl as an individual.
We embrace latest advances in educational thinking and technology. Broomwood Girls benefit from progressing at their own pace in the classroom, but join with Broomwood Boys for academic extension activities, including joint House competitions, as well as sports, creative workshops and residential trips.
We care about instilling good values, promoting resilience and giving each girl a fully rounded education. We take pride in the breadth of our successes from our outstanding academic results to achievements in sport, drama, art and music. Our pupils go on to top day or boarding schools at 11 or 13+. We enjoy some of the best prep school results in London, with children winning competitive scholarships for academic studies, music, sport, drama and art.
However, we are not a hot-house. We do not want girls to feel the pressures faced by too many this age. We’re immensely proud of our fantastic pastoral care which is key to the academic and personal success of our girls. The journey our pupils are on, allows them to thrive and be successful because they are so well supported. Our tutor system means there is always an adult at school, who takes an interest – a real interest – in every child’s triumphs, disasters and achievements. This, I believe, is what truly sets us apart.
We have wonderful buildings and surroundings with some of the best prep facilities in London, including a fully-fledged DT Suite, specialist science labs and cookery school. We have superb and dedicated staff, supportive parents who believe in what we are trying to do, girls who are rewarding and a joy to teach. I personally couldn’t want for anything more. We believe our approach and ethos is the best way to help your daughter realise her potential. But don’t take my word for it – please come and see us for yourselves and discover the Broomwood difference.
Times change, but the philosophy at Broomwood Prep – Girls has never wavered:
if a child is happy, they will learn and thrive.
We exist to provide a traditional, rounded education, tailored to meet the needs of the modern world, where our girls collaborate closely with the boys at Broomwood Prep – Boys. Our pupils are hardworking, focused and confident – and they relish the challenges and opportunities that Broomwood provides. Visitors and staff alike seldom fail to notice the constant buzz of laughter and the sense of happiness that come from time and effort well spent. Our motto, ‘BeYourBEST’ exemplifies the ethos of our school.
We are the only all-girls’ day school in South West London geared towards delivering outstanding academic success for entry to leading day and boarding schools at both 11+ and 13+.

A single-sex preparatory school for girls aged 7-13 delivering co-educational learning beyond the classroom with Broomwood Boys.
I hope you will come to see the magical alchemy of our school: we deliver academic excellence alongside myriad sporting, music, drama, and creative opportunities. More often than not, visitors remark on the vibrancy and fun that permeates the place. We are proud of our outstanding academic results but more importantly, we want our boys to have a happy childhood – and that is what we deliver, in spades.
We combine the very best of modern education within a traditional setting and moral framework to educate ‘the whole person’. Broomwood Boys learn at their own pace in the classroom but collaborate with Broomwood Girls for extension and social activities. We have joint house competitions, academic workshops and come together for residential trips and mixed sporting events. Our boys leave us as young men with good values and respect for others. They are self-confident, independent thinkers and team players – essential skills which will stand them in good stead for life at senior school and in the workplace.
Most boys leave us at 13 although some leave (and join) at 11 too. Our results are some of the best in London. Last year, our pupils were awarded 22 scholarships at leading public schools – both day and boarding. We work with parents to ensure that children go to the schools that are right for them.
With 250 boys and no plans to get any bigger we are small enough for everyone to know each other well and large enough to field teams which hold their own against much bigger schools. Sport is a large part of life at Broomwood, and we are lucky to overlook the green expanse of Wandsworth Common. School days are long, but rewarding and your son will come home to relax after completing everything (including his homework) at school.
We have dedicated, specialist staff and exemplary pastoral care. If this is something you think might be right for your child, please do come and visit us. Most children join us automatically from Broomwood Pre-Prep, but we do offer places at 7+ and 11+. Our admissions team are experts in helping you consider all the options and would be delighted to talk to you. We do have some occasional places and look sympathetically at applicants for other Year groups, although this depends on numbers.
Broomwood Prep – Boys is a single-sex prep school for children aged 7 to 13, which collaborates closely with the girls from Broomwood. We are a day school in the heart of London. Our motto: BeYourBEST, exemplifies our desire to give boys the confidence to know that by trying to do their best, they reap the rewards of personal satisfaction and achievement. During his time at Broomwood, every boy should be able to find something he can shine at and thus know the pleasure in achievement – be it in the classroom, on the sports pitch, or in music and drama.
So, while we’re rightly proud of our boys’ outstanding successes in senior school assessments, scholarship applications and other examinations, we’re just as proud of their achievements on the sports fields and in the music, art and drama that are embedded into our curriculum. Perhaps more than this, we measure our success, as a school, by the character and manners of our boys. We pride ourselves on being a friendly school that places importance on the traditional values that boys carry with them for life. Things like kindness, compassion, teamwork and consideration for others – the basics of good manners.

A single-sex preparatory school for boys aged 7 - 13 delivering co-educational learning beyond the classroom with Broomwood Girls.
“Eaton House School was founded in 1897 and it is with great pride that I carry on this wonderful traditional education more than 125 years later. Whilst the school has expanded across two sites in Clapham and Belgravia, and the education has become more rounded, interactive and high tech over the years, the fundamental core ethos remains the same.
We aim to provide a first-class education, striving for excellence in all academic, cultural and sporting pursuits, giving every child the confidence to discover where their gifts lie and to enjoy their talents. Wellbeing is at the core of everything we do. We are non-selective at our 3+ and 4+ entry points, because we believe that children develop emotionally and academically at different paces and without the pressures of early exams. We also champion single-sex education, as we know from numerous studies that younger children learn best when alongside peers of the same gender.”
“Our results speak for themselves. Despite being non-selective our girls and boys obtain outstanding academic results and receive a wide range of scholarships to superb senior schools, including Westminster, St Paul’s School, Dulwich College, James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGS), Winchester, Wycombe Abbey and Eton.
Alumni that have passed through Eaton House include former Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, plus many great talents such as Laurence Olivier, Eddie Redmayne, Bear Grylls, Anthony Asquith and Philip Pullman. Our most important legacy, however, continues to be the many happy children who have discovered a love of learning at Eaton House Schools and go on to pass on their knowledge to many future generations.
Eaton House Schools share a common promise – the promise of an outstanding education for your child based on a 125 year heritage of academic excellence and founded on a caring culture of wellbeing that allows children to blossom both academically and emotionally on a non-selective entry at 4+.
Pupils in both Belgravia and Clapham receive a range of scholarships and attend many prestigious schools, including Westminster, St Paul’s School, Dulwich College, James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGS), Charterhouse, Winchester, Wycombe Abbey and Eton.
We have an unashamedly aspirational culture –whether in academics, music, sport, drama or any other endeavour – where there is a place for every single child to shine. All Eaton House Schools’ children are immersed in a rich world of creativity, extra-curricular clubs, trips and value-added extras that are designed to support their learning and to help them to achieve their full potential.

Where Bright Minds Excel
Where children receive a happy, confident and ambitious start to their education.
Eaton House Schools is a group of academic independent schools based in Belgravia and Clapham.
Hampton Court House is a place of magic, wonder and inspiration, where the children are at the heart of everything we do. As Head, I am unashamedly and unapologetically idealistic about the power of education to transform young people, and HCH is the perfect environment for this to happen. Walking through the gates at HCH transports our children to a special place where they can thrive and flourish, where they are respected and valued as independent and autonomous individuals, and where they are known and deeply cared for by every member of staff. Our children are empowered, enabled, and treasured.
Our ethos and vision focuses on sparking creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking through an exciting and progressive curriculum facilitated by passionate subject specialists who have chosen to teach because they love their subject and are lifelong learners in themselves, but also because they wish to share this knowledge with young people. As well as being a place that buzzes with scholarship and academic enquiry, we also celebrate experiential learning and all of the so-called ‘soft-skills’ learned through the performing and expressive arts, sport, and activities where our children can be challenged outside of their comfort zone, celebrated for their intrinsic passions and skills, and where they can learn so much about who they are and what makes them tick.
Most importantly, however, HCH prioritises the mental health and wellbeing of each and every member of our community; pastoral care is the golden thread that runs through everything we do. Our children are nourished and nurtured as we help them navigate their way through developing their sense of self. Our guiding principles are kindness, respect and compassion for others and this is reflected in our ‘inner curriculum’ based on empathy, emotional literacy, and emotional intelligence. We want our children to be happy, confident, and understand themselves, but also understand and care for those around them. It is this combination that will help them make the world a better place.
There are so many other attributes that make HCH such a special school, whether that is our French immersion programme and focus on languages, ballet provision, informal dress code, late Sixth Form start, or how all staff are referred to by their first name. Our beautiful buildings and garden provide our students with the physical space to run, play, imagine and enjoy the freedom and other wondrous aspects of being young. HCH is unique and distinct, and we are proud to be so because we know how motivating, inspiring and nurturing this is for the young people in our care and how it helps them achieve their highest potential.
I cannot wait to welcome you to the school so you can see the magic, vibrancy, and collective joy of HCH first-hand.
It is important to us that children enjoy being here and look forward to coming to school. We wish to lay the foundations of a lifelong love of learning.
We believe that children need some (guided) freedom in order to develop their own style with taste and discretion. Pupils and staff have mutual respect for each other. The staff, including the Principal, are addressed by their first names. Whilst there is a dress code, there is no uniform.
Hampton Court House is an ‘all through’ school teaching pupils aged 2–18. Some students choose to move on after 11+ in Year 6 or through Common Entrance or Scholarship papers in Year 8. But most pupils elect to stay on to GCSE in Year 11 and A-levels in the sixth form.
The Nursery and Reception classes provide a highly stimulating and welcoming environment for children to learn through interaction with each other and adults. They learn through play with songs and games and through the enthusiasm of their teachers.
Children hear spoken French around them each day, which prepares them for the Lower Years (Years 1–4) which is a fully bilingual environment. After this, in Year 6, all pupils sit internal 11+ examinations, and 13+ examinations in Year 8 in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Latin. In the Upper Years, students will make their own decisions that will shape their future and can select specialisms from a wide range of subjects.
Hampton Court is a co-educational all-through school.
