For the last 10 years, Verita has truly felt like home to me.

And it’s also home to these amazing children, students and families who entrusted us with their educational and personal journeys of discovery and growth. We are honoured and deeply responsible for their trust in us.

For me, this journey started over 12 years ago with a volunteering project for sick children in hospitals and it became an incredibly meaningful and passionate journey to create an educational community where our children can grow and develop a love for learning and a genuine love for who they truly are. Our belief here at Verita is that the core of who we are, is kindness.

We want our students to learn and have great academic results, to go out in the world and create magnificent things. And we also want them to be kind, compassionate human beings who make responsible decisions and build healthy relationships. Balanced adults who have resilience, motivation, grit and can navigate in a mindful way the inevitable hardship that life sometimes brings about.

And that’s why at Verita we look at the whole learner.

What’s really driving a child’s behaviour? How do children develop and learn? These are questions we keep asking ourselves as we are also still learning.

In today’s world we are all interconnected. The challenges we face and that our children will face in the future, require cooperation, compassion, grit, and creativity.

We acknowledge this here in Verita and my mission as Head of School, as a mother and, ultimately, as a human being, will always be to uphold these values within our community and to model our mission of putting kindness first in everything we do in a dynamic and authentic way.

Our teachers and staff are like a second family for our students. We share the same home, which is our campus, and for many hours a day, we come together striving to best serve our children. And just as in any family, how we show up matters. We take care of our students also by taking care of our teachers and staff. Their wellbeing is an indicator of how well we can teach our students.

From Mr. Doru, our guard who is always smiling at the entrance gate, to our kitchen and cleaning staff and all our teachers and teaching assistants, feeling safe, seen and heard is a priority. Having a sense of belonging and knowing there is always someone here to reach out to if you need any kind of support is intentional and a constant focus and effort in the Senior Leadership Team.

Project-based learning as a key element for success in life is gaining more and more popularity and attention in society. According to expert research, we tend to remember best the experiences we have learned through our own active participation. In this context, the PHG welcomes project-based learning as an essential part of the educational process and is actively developing it. By integrating humanities and science subjects into thematic blocks, it aims to equip its students with the skills and knowledge they will need in their everyday lives. Each of us is involved in a wide range of projects in our lives, large and small. We believe that a student will achieve their goals if they put their energy and effort into achieving them, and our school actively supports this effort with pedagogical support and motivation. It provides instruction in both Czech and English, with extended English language classes. Square caters to the individual needs of each student, while allowing each student to express his or her own unique talents.
