Zoë Roberts was educated at Queen Mary’s High School for Girls, Walsall, and read Modern Languages – BA(Hons) – European Languages and Culture – MA – at The Victoria University of Manchester from 1989 to 1994, where she also taught Hispanic Studies as a postgraduate student.
Zoë then chose to train as a primary teacher at The University of Leeds and happily taught KS2 in the state sector in Greater Manchester until 2004, when she moved to Asturias, to work in The English School of Asturias, a 3-18 independent international British school, as a Year 2 teacher.
In 2005, she became part of the school’s leadership team, coordinating the infant department and admissions in the school. In 2014, Zoë became headteacher of the school, and has overseen the school’s building development projects as well as incorporating the IB Diploma Programme into the sixth form in 2023. The latest development project in The English School of Asturias is to create a pre-school group for the Early Years setting.
Student wellbeing, collaborative learning, global citizenship and multilingualism are the pillars of The English School of Asturias, where all members of the school community ensure that kindness and collaboration are at the heart of teaching and learning.
