Message from the Nursery Area Manager, Ciara Doyle:

“I’m passionate about giving young children and babies the best start to their education and experience of the world, with an enthusiasm for improving the quality of education and care across all aspects of nursery life.

A crucial part of my role is to enable and empower our nursery teams to deliver the best for the children in their care. I’m a huge advocate for ongoing staff development, helping them to refine and expand their skills and progress as excellent educators.”

About
Hove Village Nurseries

Hove Village Day Nurseries are an exciting family of three settings in Brighton and Hove.

New Church Road nursery is situated in a beautiful Victorian building next to the very popular Wish Park. The setting is fortunate to have the beach and Hove Lagoon at the end of the road. This spacious nursery offers light and bright rooms for each age group and two brand-new, well-equipped gardens providing dedicated play spaces for babies and older children.

The historic Grade II Listed Hove Library is home to another of our settings, just moments from the beach and Hove Lawns. This intimate setting provides a cosy and nurturing environment for babies from 12-weeks to children aged 5.

Completing the family is our new day nursery in the heart of Brighton’s Kemptown. Located just minutes from the Royal Sussex County Hospital, American Express HQ and Brighton College, this stunning setting opened in April 2022. The beach is just down the road, as is the centre of Kemptown with all that it has to offer. The nursery is bright and spacious with a contemporary and homely feel.

Riverside Nursery Schools

– A welcome from the Principal

“I am delighted to welcome you to Riverside Nursery Schools, a family of five unique and beautiful nurseries set in the London Borough of Richmond. We provide children with a beautifully crafted environment in which highly qualified educators motivate children to learn and become independent.

Via a bespoke and individualised education, delivered with nurturing, loving care, we encourage the growth of the whole child. This fosters independent thinking alongside the development of early years qualities and dispositions such as a child’s awareness of their environment, empathy for others, communication excellence, and above all, self-confidence.

As a group of nursery schools, we strive to instil within all our children the intellectual, emotional, and physical skills needed to become self-motivated learners, flexible thinkers, and creative problem solvers. At every opportunity, we support their natural and ever-increasing curiosity about the world in which they live.

We provide love and support to our children and their families. We relish the opportunity to get to know and understand every child whilst watching them thrive in our carefully prepared, warm, loving, environment. We look forward to seeing the children grow into successful, autonomous citizens of the world.

Please feel free to contact me personally with your questions or better still, organise a visit to any of our wonderful nursery schools.

I look forward to meeting you and your child and being alongside you at the start of their education.”

About
Riverside Nursery Schools

Riverside Nursery Schools have been educating children for over forty-five years and have created a bespoke curriculum that draws inspiration from a range of established and time-proven pedagogies including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Forest School. The education provided is steered by our experience and expertise, combined with the most up-to-date knowledge of the latest scientific breakthroughs in both child development and neuro-development.

Whilst incorporating the seven areas of learning in the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the Riverside curriculum goes far beyond it, with a focus centred on developing the five Riverside Nursery Schools Dispositions in each and every child.

The Riverside Dispositions

  • Resilience - Getting up when we fall down, brushing ourselves off, and trying again
  • Imagination - Seeing magic in the world and conjuring our own unique interpretation
  • Veracity - Learning and respecting the truth about ourselves, others, and the world around us as we learn and grow
  • Empathy - Sharing feelings and experiences to create a nurturing and comforting learning environment for all
  • Responsibility - Developing autonomy and integrity of self and the abilities to work both independently and collaboratively

Sancton Wood School

– A message from the Principal

“A warm welcome to Sancton Wood School, a community of fun and energy close to the heart of Cambridge city centre.

Our school was founded in 1976 as a primary school and since then has expanded year on year. We now operate across three sites and have 350 children on roll.  Our Core Values shape everything we do and define what we stand for: inclusivity, care, and a deep worth of the individual.  We value learning too and believe that a carefully planned, pastoral approach to education will lead to outstanding academic outcomes; at GCSE, for example, our students excel, recording results which are way above the national average…”

In 2018, we joined the Dukes family and I have been delighted by the support and investment they have given to the school.  Most strikingly, in the purchase of a brand new secondary school site which will allow us to improve our provision further and grow to three forms of entry.

Our most recent ISI inspection captured our mission statement perfectly concluding that:

‘From EYFS upwards, pupils at Sancton Wood are highly successful in their learning and development. Their achievement is excellent.’

They also concluded:

  • ‘Pastoral Care is excellent.’

  • ‘Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent.’

  • ‘Curricular and extra curricular provision is excellent.’

Recently, the best reference for the school I’ve come across was from one of our Y2 pupils who, on the walk home from school, told her mum, “I like Sancton Wood so much I’d like to spend Christmas Day there.”

About
Sancton Wood School

Sancton Wood School is an independent, co-educational nursery and day school in Cambridge, educating children from 1 to 16 years of age. It joined Dukes Education in September 2018. Sancton Wood is a school that focuses on discovering the innate qualities and skills of every child, helping them to develop these to full capacity.

The school has a reputation for instilling good manners, reliability, and self-discipline into every child that comes through its doors in Cambridge. The small, supportive, and close-knit community is often likened to a family – kind and tolerant, where everyone can find their place and be valued. The school’s setting, close to parks, museums, and the centre of Cambridge, allows for the provision of an outstanding contribution to the social, emotional, and academic development of each child.

Class sizes are small at an average of 16 pupils, creating fabulous learning environments where teachers have time for individuals and pupils feel comfortable sharing their ideas and where imaginations can wander freely.

More than anything else, however, the school is about discovering the deep worth of every individual and promotes the development of personal talents and interests.

Extraordinary results

Students at Sancton Wood regularly achieve outstanding GCSE results, a wonderful testament to the efforts of both teachers and students.

Sancton Wood is regularly placed in The Times Top 100 Schools and was recently placed at the top of an ISA table of points per pupil. In 2018 a Head Boy achieved an exceptional haul of 10 Grade 9 GCSEs, for which he was awarded the Whitbread Memorial Prize.

Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery School

– A message from Hopes and Dreams

“I founded Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery School in 1997 with the vision to provide a superior family-focused Nursery School.

Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where our children grow and learn through creative play. We have multi-age classrooms that foster independence, whilst our broad curriculum encourages responsibility and respect. All of our dedicated staff help to guide each child at their own pace.

The Nursery School is registered for 123 children from the ages of 3 months to 5 years old…”

“… and follows the traditional Montessori teaching methods in line with the Early Years Foundation Curriculum. Our families come from a wide catchment area and a variety of multicultural backgrounds which are reflected in our curriculum and day-to-day activities. Thus, the Nursery School supports several children who speak English as an additional language.

Ofsted has once again rated our Montessori Nursery School ‘Outstanding’, and we continue to strive to improve the health and wellbeing of our children and staff through different projects and initiatives.

Hopes and Dreams Montessori Nursery School is accredited by the Montessori Education and Accreditation Board (MEAB) and holds the ‘Green’ quality indicator for which it is assessed bi-annually by the Early Years Foundation Stage Professional Development Officer.

Over the years we are very proud to have won (and been nominated for) several industry awards including Nursery Manager of the Year, the Giant Green Business award for waste minimisation, and have been finalists in the Archant London Environmental award and Nursery World’s Nursery Food award.”

Reflections Day Nursery & Forest School

– A letter from the Founder

“I’m delighted to have this opportunity to introduce you to Reflections. It’s a school where we do things a little differently.

We draw our inspiration from the pre-schools of Reggio Emilia in northern Italy. These schools are world-famous for providing children with the very best in childcare and education. We also draw much inspiration from the forest nurseries of Denmark, renowned for their wonderful outdoor work with young children. We work too with the Early Years Foundation Stage – the national guidance for working with children from birth to five. So we give children the opportunity to develop across as many areas of learning as possible.

Our unusual and innovative approach has previously won us the accolade of ‘Nursery World UK Nursery of the Year’ in 2009/10 (the only time we’ve entered). So how is Reflections Nursery different? …”

“Well, we make a point of listening to children’s theories and giving them the opportunity to test their hypotheses because we believe that’s the way they learn. (We’re happy to talk about this for hours if you’ll let us).

Our nursery is set in two buildings – a lovely Regency building and a gothic Tudor-style building, both on three floors with loads of space, lots of light and huge gardens. We make the nursery environment inspiring by offering lots of open-ended, natural and reclaimed resources for the children and they add their imaginations and creativity.

We believe all children have the right to be understood as individuals and to be given time and opportunity to develop as creative, competent learners in an inspiring environment, with lots of access to the outdoors.

Our vision is to create a place that values caring, respectful relationships and make heard the voice of the child.

If you haven’t already visited the nursery we’d really recommend that you come and see what we do.
